Prometheus Capital is pleased to announce that our property within the Adolphe Max building in Brussels has been re-certified with a C level energy rating.
This marks a major milestone as it represents a 67% reduction in energy use for the unit, going from a G rating and consuming 366 kWh/m²/year to now consuming 120 kWh/m²/year.
To reach the levels, we identified several key areas where improvements could be made, including insulation, ventilation, and heating systems and over the course of three months, worked to retrofit the space.
This new grade is the goal for European buildings for 2036 and we are pleased to start our efforts over a decade in advance. While new buildings can be built with energy efficiency in mind, it is often more difficult to retrofit existing buildings. Our team was up for the challenge and strove to understand the unique opportunities of the space.
The Adolphe Max property is located in one of the busiest and most commercial areas of Brussels. Our work here was a pilot project and just one example of our commitment to promoting sustainability within the industry. As we look towards the future, we are excited to be a thought leader in this space, continuing to invest in energy-efficient buildings and reducing our carbon footprint. Prometheus Capital is committed to making our portfolio of properties receive a green certification by 2024.
Improving the energy efficiency of buildings is seen as a key component of achieving the European Union’s target of net-zero emissions by 2050. Investing in energy-efficient buildings and promoting sustainability throughout the industry. We believe that by working together on actionable goals with real impact, we can create a more sustainable and prosperous future for all.
